the "gma" super bowl party continues this morning live from new orleans. you don't want to miss it. it's coming up at 7:00 in the morning. and moving on now, we're following the developing story from southern california involving a deadly bus crash. at least eight people died when a tour bus hit a pickup truck on a remote highway about 80 miles east of l.a. dozens of people were taken to the hospital. the bus was apparently returning to tijuana from the big bear resort nearby. the driver reportedly had problems with the brakes. as the bus came down the mountain. that crash comes a day after a bus carrying 42 high school students and their chaperones slammed into a boston overpass. most of those injured have been released from the hospital. one person is in critical condition. the driver claims he was relying on gps at the time of the accident. president obama kicks off a focus on gun violence this week with a visit later today to minnesota. he'll talk to local leaders and

law enforcement during a stop at the minneapolis police department's special operations center. the meeting will take place just four blocks from where a 5-year-old boy was shot to death in a gang dispute last summer. the president is adding his voice to the conversation about boy scouts lifting the ban on gays. scout leaders will hold meetings today. they may announce a decision this week. police in turkey are questioning 11 suspects in the death of a new york woman who vanished a day before she was set to return home. 33-year-old tarah sierra was in istanbul on a photography trip when she suffered a fatal blow to the head. detectives are still scouring the area where her body was dumped. >> reporter: her body was found in the trees right behind me. as you can see, the police are still here. this is a pretty isolated area. on this side, there's a dropoff. on this side, train tracks. the theory is she was killed

somewhere else and her body was brought here. >> she was last seen on surveillance video at a mall. detectives are still trying to figure out why her passport and phone were left behind in her hotel room. in london today, man will be in court after breaking through a security barrier at buckingham palace and waving two knives around. the queen was not home and the man's motive is not known. and back here, now, to washington, where the state department will officially welcome its new chief. john kerry took the oath of office at a private ceremony on friday with supreme court justice elena kagan presiding. former mayor ed koch will be laid to rest today in new york. former president bill clinton

welcome back, everyone. the bulls are running on wall street. this morning, the dow opens above 14,000 for the first time in more than five years. since before the financial crisis. that's only about 150 points from its all-time high set in october 2007. the dow is now up almost 7% since the beginning of the year. >> open those 401(k)s perhaps, folks. gasoline prices are going up. aaa says the average price this morning is $3.51 a gallon, an increase of almost 17 cents in a week. it's even a few cents higher

than a year ago. analysts expect the rise to stop well before four bucks gallon and average well under last year's record prices. u.s. pickup truck sales are expected to soar this year, topping 1.7 million. that's because there are lots of new model this is year and also an increase in new home construction. that's good news for detroit. pickups haul in most of the earnings for the companies. 90% of earnings for ford and two-thirds for general motors. pizza hut today introduces pizza sliders. they're smaller than personal pies. they'll be offered in boxes of three or nine. each can have a different topping. the idea came out of pizza huts in india. the chain thinks they'll help combat the pizza fatigue that sets in in the u.s. after the super bowl. that's what we need. more pizza in different types of ways. >> i've noticed. you snack a lot healthier, more healthily than i do on this shift. that's great news for me. >> maybe some doughnuts.

the suspect apparently suffered mental health issues and is now on suicide watch. here's ryan owens with more. >> reporter: former navy s.e.a.l. sniper chris kyle was such a good shot, he once hit a target a mile way. but tlis plis say a bullet fired at point-blank range is what killed the husband and father of two. the 48-year-old died at place he should have felt comfortable. this gun range south of dallas. defectives say he died at the hands of a young man he was trying to counsel. officers arrested this 25-year-old former marine, eddie ray ralph after a police chase on saturday night. they say he turned the gun on kyle and a friend, 35-year-old chad littlefield, murdering them both. he knew the stress of combat as well as anyone. he served four deployments, won seven medals of bravery and killed more than 150 people. he was the deadliest sniper in military history. >> i love the job, the guys, the
